Sublime has officially announced a new studio album, marking the band’s first full-length release in nearly 30 years. The project, titled Until the Sun Explodes, brings together founding members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh with Jakob Nowell, son of original frontman Bradley Nowell.

The announcement arrives as the group continues its latest era, with Jakob taking on a central role in carrying the band’s sound forward. Members of the band said the album was created with respect for Sublime’s history while also reflecting where the group stands today.

The record represents a rare moment for a band whose influence has remained strong long after its original run. Rather than revisiting the past, the new material is intended to build on the musical foundation that helped define Sublime’s blend of rock, punk, reggae, and ska.

One of the album’s key songs holds personal meaning for Jakob, who has spoken about the connection between the project and his father’s legacy. The release also highlights a unique collaboration between generations, with longtime bandmates and a new voice working together on the next chapter of Sublime’s story.
