Spencer Krug has released a new solo piano version of I’ll Believe in Anything, revisiting one of the most recognizable songs from Wolf Parade’s early catalog. The updated recording pares the track down to voice and piano, shifting the focus to melody and lyrics.

The song first appeared on Wolf Parade’s 2005 debut album Apologies to the Queen Mary, a record that helped define the mid-2000s indie rock wave. In this new arrangement, the layered guitars and driving rhythm are gone. What remains is a quieter, more direct performance that highlights the structure of the songwriting.

Krug shared the new version as a standalone release, offering a fresh perspective on material that has followed him for nearly two decades. The performance feels measured and restrained, leaning into the emotional core of the composition rather than its original urgency.

By returning to I’ll Believe in Anything in this stripped-back form, Krug places the spotlight on the song itself, allowing listeners to hear it in a different light while staying true to its original spirit.
