Taste of Country made a list of the 25 most boundary-pushing, outspoken, and inspiring country music ladies making waves in the genre. These “Trailblazers” included young Brooke Eden who fights for LGBTQ+ rights, Ashley McBryde who shines for her outstanding lyrical storytelling, and Brandi Carlile who calls herself the “lesbian redneck” and won the Billboard Women in Music Trailblazer Award in 2019. Legends like Dolly Parton, mid-2000s artists like Rissi Palmer and Jennifer Nettles as well as rising stars including Rhiannon Giddens and The Highwomen were all included. (DRG News)
